Our minds and bodies are connected. What happens in our minds, our bodies feel and what our bodies feel, our minds respond. Yoga and somatic therapy combine talk therapy with physical movement to bring about healing and awareness from both mental and physical concerns.

Yoga and Somatic Therapy have been proven to be very effective in helping process and release trauma, mitigate symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress and is a thoroughly research-supported treatment for pain management, disease management and injury prevention and recovery. Yoga and Somatic Therapy can help clients process and release negative and blocked traumas and emotions stored in the body. Through breathing and individualized physical movement, clients are guided to shift their mindset while allowing the body to feel more safe, calm and ready to let go.

Yoga and Somatic Therapy can include a variety of techniques and forms:

  • Yoga

  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation

  • EMDR

  • Dance

  • Breath work

  • Moving meditations

Benefits of Yoga and Somatic Therapy:

  • Resolve buried emotions and pain from acute or chronic trauma and PTSD

  • Release the pain of chronic pain or illness

  • Connect to the body, inner child wounds and shameful parts hidden within

  • Improve self-acceptance and body acceptance

  • Improve attention and memory by practicing stillness and balance

  • Process feelings and emotions in an alternative way if/when you struggle to find the words to do so

  • Practice relaxation, release stress and let go of emotional weight without needing to discuss it all. Can be great for those that are all talked out due to previous therapy experiences, emotional distress or overwhelm.

  • Relax the body so the the mind too can relax in order to soothe stress, anxiety, adrenalin or high energy, and find the words to express emotions and thoughts

  • Help instill lightness, feel energized and the ability to carry that charge forward (especially if feeling heavy, stuck, depressed or lacking motivation).
