Located in Plymouth and Northville downtowns, Reset Brain and Body utilizes innovative methods to improve your mental health

Take a deep breath and imagine meditating in a restorative yoga pose, dribbling a soccer ball or painting a picture — all while a mental-health expert guides you through a therapy session.

Addressing mental-health issues doesn’t have to spark anxieties thanks to the innovative methods utilized by Reset Brain and Body, which has two downtown locations — a four-year-old site in Plymouth (260 S. Union Street) and a new site in Northville (341 E. Main Street).

Reset Brain and Body prides itself on combining mental health talk therapy and the scientific benefits of the mind-body connection to holistically address its clients’ mental well-being.

And with more people in need of mental-health therapy now than possibly ever before, the family-owned business is expanding at just the right time.

“Our focus is on redefining how people experience mental-health care,” said Nick Biskelonis, who founded Reset along with wife and clinician Kerry in 2018. “We promote a clean, fresh environment with bright lighting, plants and a calm and healing atmosphere. We want our offices to be welcoming to clients, not threatening.”

“A lot of people’s perception of mental-health therapy is laying on a couch and talking to a therapist,” added Reset Marketing & Branding Coordinator Margaux Foster. “We use an integrative process to help our clients reconnect their mind and body. It’s not an easy task, which is why our team offers a variety of methods.”

Depending on the age and interests of new clients, Reset offers a range of integrative therapy offerings. For instance, a young person in need of treatment may be introduced to therapy while kicking around a soccer ball — an activity that will help ease the mind and connect them to their body.

Clients can practice yoga, paint a picture or choose to be soothed by music while participating in their mental-health care regimen.

“The bottom line is we want to make them as comfortable as possible because we know the introduction to mental-health care can be intimidating if not done in the proper way,” Biskelonis said.

Reset offers a free 20-minute consultation for prospective clients and lets the clients explore which therapists they would like to work with from a roster of 20 proven mental-health experts.

The business offers onsite and virtual sessions, Biskelonis said.

Reset has forged a strong bond with the communities it serves, he added.

“We have a strong relationship with Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and we want to mimic that relationship with Northville Public Schools because it’s been so successful in Plymouth and Canton,” Biskelonis said. “We also offer team sessions for corporations and businesses that have multiple employees who may be interested in our services, as well as a program for families.”

Biskelonis, a Plymouth native and graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School, said Reset has already been embraced by the Northville community.

“The feedback we’ve received has been tremendous,” he said. “Our services have been in pretty high demand since Day 1.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has raised the public’s anxieties levels, Biskelonis noted.

“Activities that people used to do without worrying — from going to the grocery store to attending school — create anxieties now,” he said. “Your life shouldn’t be altered in a negative way by these anxieties. Our goal is to help make our clients’ lives whole again.”
