Meet Bre…

Who is your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is open-minded, motivated, and ready to engage in self-exploration and personal growth. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who are navigating all of the difficult parts of being a human, such as life transitions, friendship/relationship issues, healing from trauma, and/or managing anxiety. I hope to work with folks who want to increase their resilience, heal their inner child, and explore new paths. Bonus points for anyone with a great sense of humor :)

Why do you like being a therapist?
I like being a therapist because I like working with people and am honored to be a part of their journey. It is rewarding to be able to witness clients make progress, overcome obstacles, and achieve greater well-being. Attending therapy has made such a positive impact in my life; I am happy to be able to be on the "other side" helping clients benefit from therapy in a similar way to what I have experienced.

What’s something you wish people knew about therapy?
I wish that everyone knew that it’s okay to seek help when they need it! I have heard people say they don’t need therapy because they can solve problems on their own and do not want to appear weak. In reality, I think that admitting you need help and reaching out for support takes a lot of courage.

I also wish that people knew that therapy doesn’t have to involve just sitting on a couch talking about sad stuff (unless that’s your thing, then we can do that!). We can incorporate arts and crafts, music, movement and more into sessions - there’s no right or wrong way to do this!

Why can people benefit from therapy?
Therapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. It allows people to feel heard, supported, understood, and validated. It encourages individuals to set goals, explore their values, identify strengths and work towards self-improvement.

What does “success” in therapy look like to you?
Success in therapy is when clients feel like they have a toolbox of coping strategies that will help them get through all of the curveballs that life throws at them. It’s when clients feel empowered to make decisions, big or small, that lead them to a better quality of life.

What’s something you’d like clients to know about how you work?
I am a super laid-back person! Sessions can be whatever a client needs them to be - whether that means practicing coping strategies, having a good cry, or ranting about the latest drama happening in their life.

Describe your perfect Sunday (or rainy day)
My perfect Sunday, rainy day, (or really any day) is when I get to be a couch potato with my husband and my dog while we binge Law and Order, The Office, or football games!

What is your favorite place?
The Plymouth Library. I grew up going there and I never get sick of it!

If you weren’t a mental health professional, what would you be doing?
I would be a stay-at-home dog mom or a librarian.

Favorite quote?
"Make peace with your pain and never lose your flames" - I have a tattoo of this on my arm :)

What is your go-to “feel good” song?
"I Am" by Flo Milli
