Meet Cady…

Who is your ideal client?
All are welcome, but I am especially motivated to work with adolescents and young adults, IPV survivors, and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. I work from a strength-based perspective, so together with my client we will identify and work to apply their core strengths to heal, grow, and bloom. Our strengths are always present within us and I hope in working with clients, we can reinforce clients' ability to call upon those strengths as a guide to help overcome difficulties and most importantly, feel empowered.

Why do you like being a therapist?
I think a big piece of therapy that is often overlooked is the therapeutic relationship that emerges between client and clinician. I prioritize creating an emotionally safe and secure space so that together we can address the client's individual concerns. Especially for young adults, having a validating therapeutic relationship itself can be a healing experience. I feel honored to share this unique relationship with my clients today.

What's something you wish people knew about therapy?
I think the traditional expectation in therapy is that it is strictly talking about problems. To me, it is processing troubles, celebrating victories, building a trusting therapeutic relationship, and thinking critically about our unique strengths and challenges in a safe, affirming environment. I also have found that creative expressive therapy like art, movement, and writing can be such healing outlets. By being a part of the Reset team, I can offer these artistic, holistic, and individualized solutions that are tailored to the client's needs and interests.

Why can people benefit from therapy?
Therapy provides a unique opportunity to learn and deepen the connection with ourselves, unlearn and release the unwanted pieces, and call upon our strengths to feel capable and empowered as we move through life.

What does "success" in therapy look like to you?
While success is ultimately from the client's perspective, for me it might be when the client nourishes themselves with self-compassion in difficult moments, navigates challenges from an empowered perspective, celebrates their well-deserved victories, and gives themselves unconditional love and care in any moment.

What's something you'd like clients to know about you (or how you work)?
I prioritize accessibility, and so the skills we work on in therapy should always feel accessible in my clients' daily lives. I love to incorporate art, mindfulness, playing, writing, dancing and movement, music, and some humor into my therapeutic practice as they can all be such nurturing outlets. As my clients and I navigate their own therapeutic journey, my goal is to help them find supportive skills to heal and grow that feel natural in their lives.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed every couple of years growing up! For the longest time, I was convinced I would be a Broadway performer or a professional dancer because I love to dance. Then I thought maybe a teacher, then a veterinarian, then back to a teacher. You never know where life will take you.

Do you have any secret talents?
I do nail art! I have a little nail art kit and everything. Right now I'm practicing doing smiley faces and straight lines, but I have mastered flowers, clouds, and dots pretty well.

Beach or mountains?
Undoubtedly the beach. Being around any body of water helps me to feel calm and at peace.

Which foreign language would you like to learn?
I would love to learn Italian. I am fluent in Spanish after studying it in school and living in Spain for three years, and the languages are somewhat similar. I think it'd be cool to master all the romance languages eventually.

A book that you think everyone should read:
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It's fiction, but it changed the way I looked at past mistakes and regrets. If you're interested, I'll lend you my copy!
