Meet Jim…

Who is your ideal client?
My ideal client would be someone who understands that healing is not linear, that there are no set rules but that the journey is worth it. That practicing patience and compassion for themselves is one of the greatest acts of self-care. I value and celebrate each and every person’s individuality and cultivate a safe, non-judgmental and open environment for my clients to show up just as they are, and allow them the space and time to feel safe, heard and able to continue their journey of healing.

Why do you like being a therapist?
I prioritize providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to dive into their journey through sharing, creativity, breath and so much more. This space is fundamental in growing the client/clinician relationship and most importantly, the relationship they have with themselves. The uniqueness of each individual’s healing journey is a beautiful thing to watch and I am grateful each day to be a part of that.

What's something you wish people knew about therapy?
It is said that therapy can feel like a spa treatment for the mind, but at times, therapy can also be uncomfortable, confusing, difficult and yet, so beautiful. This is what makes practicing self-compassion throughout the healing journey so empowering. The therapeutic setting is an opportunity to be yourself, not be judged and feel seen, heard and empowered.

Why can people benefit from therapy?
Just talking about yourself in a therapeutic environment can be uplifting and allow for insight into one’s own life. Luckily, that is not all that therapy has to offer. Therapy can be a safe place to express yourself in new ways. On days when words may feel stuck, this compassionate environment can allow you the opportunity to express yourself.

What does “success” in therapy look like to you?
Success looks and means something different for everyone. The practice of learning and developing self-love, patience, tools and ways to cope, as well as gaining insight into themselves and their life’s journey.

What's something you'd like clients to know about you (or how you work)?
I’m open-minded and have a gentle nature in my sessions, meeting you where you are at on your journey. Everyone has a unique way of expressing themselves. I often utilize expressive arts and mindfulness techniques as tools for healing while serving as a companion for clients to explore ways to express themselves and their passions.
