My ideal client shows up in session exactly as they are, as their authentic, human self. I invite clients to foster curiosity about themselves, about the people and places around them, and about the therapeutic process itself. And because change can be hard and because therapy asks us to be vulnerable in addition to being curious, I am here to support clients however I can throughout our time together. I am passionate about serving clients across gender, age, ability, and identity spectrums, and I work with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, disordered eating, body image disturbances, life transitions, and political stress.
I enjoy being a therapist because it's a privilege to listen to the stories that my clients tell about their experiences and about themselves. As a former language and literature teacher, I put a lot of value on the narratives and I believe that our stories lie at the heart of human communication. For me, therapy is about making meaning from the narratives that clients craft and invite me to be a part of.
My primary modality is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which empowers clients to open up to difficult experiences, be present here and now, and do what matters according their values. I incorporate a variety of mindfulness practices into my sessions, all of which allow clients to connect with their body and better understand how they take up space in the world. I'm a trauma-informed provider, and I take an anti-racist, feminist, and Health At Every Size approach to my work.
