Andrew Wylie
My ideal client comes to therapy with an open mind and willingness to implement exercises from therapy into their daily life. Your goals are a priority to me, and I also understand that life happens :) I believe therapy should be an adaptive space to fit what you need! My hope is that our therapy sessions can be a safe space to process important experiences, learn more about yourself, a place to practice exercises that help you to feel better in daily life, and sometimes just a place to unpack a stressful week.
My favorite part of being a therapist is the humanness involved in the work! It is so meaningful to support people in making meaningful changes in their lives, and it is a huge privilege that they trust me to be a part of that process with them :)
I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Guided-Breathing and Guided Visualization. I believe that these are important for practical application in daily life, because we can’t regulate ourselves and reduce the intensity of our feelings unless we understand how anxiety and trauma can take up physical space in the body. My favorite kind of work is helping clients through somatic symptoms of anxiety and cognitive restructuring related to negative self-talk, as well as incorporating behavioral activation strategies that help increase clients’ motivation and energy levels.
